分析家们之前预计1月该指数会下跌0.3点至52.9。
就这个指标来说，如果高于50.0就表示产业扩张，而低于50.0则表示产业萎缩。
1月的数据表明英国建筑业产量连续十三个月增长，但是扩张速度放缓且十分温和。
弱势增长活动是由于新订单增长放缓造成的，有些成员也加入了现有合同完成的量。 同时，就业停顿。
尽管如此，对于外来企业活动的信心加强至有史以来第二强水平，达到8个月高点。
